Speakers
Michael J. Caduto
Author of Keepers of the Earth, Mr. Caduto will be our opening featured speaker on Wednesday, August 8. Mr. Caduto is a popular author, master storyteller, singer/songwriter and ecologist. He has devoted his life to promoting Earth stewardship and cultural understanding and diversity. He is well known for his Keepers® series of books, including Keepers of the Earth and Keepers of the Animals

Gregory M. Olson
Founder and main presenter of Critters and Company, Inc. in Champlin, Minnesota, Mr. Olson will be our closing speaker on Thursday, August 9. Critters & Company, Inc. was established because of a need that Mr. Olson observed with the at-risk children he worked with in family reunification. He found that by using animals and describing their natural and personal history, normally resistive children and adults were receptive to life saving messages. Live animals and story telling are a powerful tool, they are the soft messengers that bring to life the hard messages we need for our success.

BBQ Dinner
Wednesday  6:30-?

Mosey on out to the prairie for and evening Veggie/BBQ at the Regional Science Center. Begin the evening with beverages, socializing, building tours, and self-guided exploration. A delicious dinner will be served at 7:30 followed by interpretive trail tours and viewing of saved night sky images from an 8" telescope. Return to campus, or if you are up to it, stay for a bonfire and some live night sky viewing and interpretation starting at 9:30. Round trip bus transportation provided.

After the Conference...

Prairie Wetlands Learning Center Open House
Stop by the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center in Fergus Falls, Minnesota for a relaxing walk through the many stages of a restored bluestem and native prairie.  August is the start of a spectacular display of many of the tallgrass prairie's most beautiful flowers.  Prairie cord grass, big Bluestem, and switch grass will also be reaching full height and color.  This is the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Services first residential environmental education facility in the nation and the Prairie Wetlands Learning Center will host an open house for MAEE members and participants from 12:30-4:30pm on August 9.  Do not forget to stop and shop at the Bluestem Store operated by the "Friends" of the PWLC.  If you are looking for some cardinal, goldfinch or red-headed woodpecker finger puppets or a variety of books for children, identification books on prairie wildflowers, birds, and insects this is a must stop.  Hope to see there.  The Center is located in Fergus Falls on Hwy 210 East Exit 57 off I-94.
